Job Title: Electronics Technician
Job Description
Join a leading aerospace and defense contractor known for designing and manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles. As an Electronics Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the production team by performing essential manufacturing tasks, including building and installing electrical wire bundles, wire stripping, connector terminations, and soldering on aircraft electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for manufacturing, testing, inspecting, and repairing electrical systems and components.
- Manufacture and repair aircraft wiring and wiring harnesses.
- Perform operational checkouts of aircraft electrical systems and inspections as required.
- Conduct in-progress and follow-up inspections during and upon completion of installations.
- Solder electrical and avionics components.
- Troubleshoot aircraft systems discrepancies.
- Operate and maintain tools in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Assist in building prototypes for initial designs and low-volume builds not yet released into production.
- Participate in field testing and flight testing, which may require some travel.
- Assist other mechanics and technicians as required.
- Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, following established procedures.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 1 – 2 years of recent hands-on experience in electrical wire bundle manufacturing.
- Proficiency with electrical schematics.
- Experience in translating engineered designs into build instructions for assembly and test personnel.
- Proficiency in using wire stripper and crimping hand tools, specialty tools, and testing equipment.
- Familiarity with electronics, including analog and digital hardware.
- Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems.
- Skills in wiring and soldering.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office.
- Understanding of aircraft manufacturing safety procedures.
- Ability to interpret and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Equivalent of 2 - 4 years of advanced studies beyond high school with emphasis in electronics, soldering, or equivalent job-related training in an R&D environment is preferred.
- Certificate from a trade/technical school is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in an aircraft manufacturing or aerospace R&D environment is preferred.
- Proven experience with basic analog and digital circuit troubleshooting and repair is desired.
- Experience with wiring harnesses, plastics, composites, and printed circuit board manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties.
- Open to medical device experience.
- Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment
This position operates on a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, first shift, with potential adjustments. The work environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring flexibility and occasional Saturday work. The exact start time is still being finalized, but typical hours are from 5:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petaluma, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
