The Commercial Preliminary Design Advanced Staff Engineer is a highly strategic role that partners with organizational leaders to define the next generation of aircraft engines and develop the technical and leadership skills of the cross-functional, multi-site Commercial Preliminary Design global team. This role provides leadership to projects and initiatives with broad scope and significant business impact in the strategic new engine design space from pre-TG0 to NPI launch, as well as significant organizational development.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead Preliminary Design studies to continue to define and improve the competitiveness next generation engines using the latest technology
- Partner with internal GE Product Strategy and Systems and Airframers to lead airframer studies that will shape future product strategy and family plans
- Create and implement program plans to deliver on commitments in the required timeframe (demonstrated program leader skillset, including creating and executing cross-disciplinary program plans to deliver high quality studies on time)
- Technically mentor engineers in Preliminary Design and Multi-Disciplinary Optimization
- Catalyze organizational development by growing the next generation of leaders through targeted leadership coaching
- Support section-level initiatives as required
- Create & model an inclusive & diverse culture – foster inclusive environments w/diverse workforce where everyone is valued, respected, & has equal access to opportunities
- Be a Lean Multiplier – lead team on continued adoption, including Operational Cadences, Daily and Visual Management, Standard Work, Action Planning, and Going to Genba
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering
