Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Junior CI Engineer.
- Full Time Permanent Contract
- 39 hours per week
- Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.

To support and deliver process improvement initiatives to achieve business goals. Working with all business functions by providing process improvement along with quality and efficiency, cost reduction and data analysis using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. To update all elements of data as required when implementing change including SOP’s, Layout, root cause elimination and standardised processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety
- Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems.
- Facilitate a safe working environment & practices are maintained and compliance to site HSE standards.
- Support the completion of accident investigations and approving appropriate actions.
- To support in obtaining 6S score daily scores from work areas and to train and implement standards.
- To support site to achieve and maintains 6S score of 4 or above using the corporate standard procedures.
Quality
- Support the application of Lean and Six Sigma tools to deliver short- and long-term process improvements
- Assist in Right-First-Time, defect reduction, and Cost of Non-Quality improvement initiatives
- Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to support quality improvement activities
- Participate in structured problem-solving and Kaizen events using recognised methodologies
- Support the preparation and maintenance of improvement documentation, including SOPs, standard work, training materials, and technical reports
Cost
- Support the identification and delivery of cost reduction and waste elimination opportunities
- Assist CI Engineers in defining and tracking meaningful performance measures and benefits
- Support the development of value stream maps and current-state assessments to aid strategic decision-making
- To support in MOS compliance across the business
Delivery
- Support the engagement and implementation of Quick Win and Kaizen improvement activities
- Assist in the development of process maps, layouts, process flows, and control documentation
- Support the preparation of project plans, charters, milestones, and stakeholder communications
- Capture lessons learned and best practice from improvement activities and support knowledge sharing across the business
- Apply appropriate Lean tools under guidance, ensuring methods are suitable for low- to medium-volume, high-complexity aerospace operations
- Assist with the identification and application of the most appropriate lean process improvement methodologies and tools to meet the requirements of the projects undertaken.
- Support the preparation of accurate data and information for internal reports, audits, and reviews
- Assist with the facilitation of Lean awareness and training sessions

- Must maintain knowledge of current lean manufacturing processes and tools to improve the company’s products and processes.

Position Requirements
Essential criteria:
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheets and basic data analysis.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a regulated, safety-critical industry
Desirable criteria:
- Prior involvement in continuous improvement, Lean, quality, or problem-solving activities.
- Exposure to regulated or high-reliability manufacturing environments (e.g. aerospace, defence, medical)
