Collins Aerospace Materials & Process Engineering Department(M&PE) has an opening for a Chemistry Lab Technician intern.  The Chemistry Lab Technician Intern will provide laboratory support to M&PE and report to the Analytical Lab Services Manager.

This position is responsible for conducting specific procedures and tests within the laboratory requiring the use of applied knowledge and practical skills learned from on-the-job experience. This position assists with, and occasionally performs specialized and non-routine tests, while maintaining accurate records of such work. This role is onsite, in Rockford, IL.

What You Will Do:

• You will analyze fluid properties of oils, fuels, and solvents using multiple analytical techniques and instrumentation.
• You will prepare and analyze debris recovered from aerospace filter elements
• You will prepare analysis results in reports and communicating to personnel
• You will Determine thermal properties of aerospace polymers via DSC analysis
• You will Perform activities related to general lab operations including record keeping, 5S, safety inspections, and maintaining a stock of supplies and consumables.

What You Will Learn:

• You will be trained to operate and interpret results from analytical instrumentation
• You will learn to apply knowledge learned through academics to validate material and/or processes conform to related specification requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
• U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Office products

• Familiarity of safety practices in a laboratory environment

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
