ASSOCIATE INTERIOR FINISH MATERIAL SPECIALIST (CAB SHOP)
Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Interior Finishing Material Specialist will be responsible for the development of quality methods and procedures for interior finishing materials. Per company procedures and guidelines will select, identify risk, and approve a variety of interior finishing materials at suppliers locations; work with a variety of interior finishing material processes for aircraft cabinet components at the expected standards of safety, quality, schedule, and cost, using engineering and industrial definitions, procedures and guidelines that support the delivery to the aircraft for all aircraft models. Promote and foster a positive work environment and display a positive and respective attitude.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Develop procedures and methods for quality control of cabinets.
  • Point of contact for any quality issues with interior finishing materials on the cabinets from when the materials are received through cabinet delivery.
  • Perform basic technical investigations and analysis on standard or routine issues to produce reports that help identify corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Manage vendors for veneer selection and receiving at vendor site and at our facility by veneer mapping.
  • Manage and monitor cabinet interior finishing materials processes using statistical process control (SPC) on key parameters and test samples to monitor quality.
  • Work closely with QC inspection team in Cabinet Shop and Upholstery Shop to review and solve quality issues.
  • Create and manage a monthly report on all improvement projects and plans.
  • Participate in the Cabinet Shop process audit and corrective action plan and review.
  • Support Spec and Design engineers as an interior finishing materials specialist and contribute to educating customers.
  • Participate in selection and qualification of new veneer and any associated process (i.e. finishes, staining, whitewash, etc.).
  • Assist with various interior finishing materials projects, competently executing assigned tasks and developing skills necessary to handle moderately complex work, ensuring high quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Embrace ACE values and help create a work environment aimed at operational excellence.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and company safety procedures.

NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, business administration, design, or related field. May substitute two years of directly related experience for one year of education.
  • 1 (one) year of experience in the wood selection process.
  • Have foundational knowledge of common interior finishing materials, can recognize and safely handle fundamental finishing materials and processes. (e.g. veneers, hardwoods, finish coatings, upholstery, wallpaper).
  • Basic understanding of LEAN manufacturing (Process Mapping and 5M) methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to report technical findings with accuracy and clarity, and to document and present logical, comprehensive technical results to both peers and management.
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Must have the ability to proficiently operate computers with Microsoft Office Suites
  • Must have basic analytical skills to manage technical issues to quickly identify and diagnose with recommended solutions.
  • Pass vision testing, minimum 20/20 corrected, and with no limitations in color perception.
  • Able to develop, monitor, and manage project schedules and budgets effectively to meet company objectives and financial goals.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree.
  • Previous project or program management experience.
  • Multidimensional thinking (analytical and issue solving skills)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Will work at a desk and in the production area on the shop floor, or inside aircraft, for extended periods of time. Possible exposure to noise, humidity, heat, cold, OSHA acceptable chemicals or dust levels, stairs, etc. Occasional travel required both domestic (average once a month) and international (average once a year).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The compensation for this position typically falls between $53,583.00 and $71,165.50 per year. This position is not eligible for overtime under FLSA guidelines. This position may be eligible for shift differential. Note, the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
