POSITION PURPOSE
The Apprentice Lead supports the development and progress of apprentices by administering on-the-job training (OJT) and related instruction in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Standards of Apprenticeship and 14 CFR Part 65.77.
This role serves as a mentor, trainer, and liaison between apprentices, maintenance leadership, and training supervisors, ensuring the successful completion of training milestones and professional development objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Training Coordination & Compliance
o Administers work processes and related instruction as outlined in USDOL Standards.
o Coordinates and executes apprentice job moves based on USDOL Apprentice Program training and experience requirements (14 CFR Part 65.77)
2. Instructional Design & Delivery
o Plans, prepares, and delivers classroom and on-the-job instruction aligned with apprentice training objectives.
o Designs and refines formal and practical training based on program needs.
o Reviews current training materials for effectiveness and recommends improvements.
3. Mentorship & Professional Development
o Interfaces with apprentices daily to mentor, monitor, and support their progression through the program.
o Provides guidance on both technical skills and professional conduct.
4. Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
o Maintains regular communication with maintenance department management regarding apprentice status, progress, and placement.
o Keeps the Apprentice Supervisor informed of key developments, issues, and recommended corrective actions.
5. Program Evaluation & Reporting
o Evaluates and reports on program improvements, course and task development, and apprentice performance.
o Submits all required staff documentation (e.g., timesheets, materials/supplies tracking forms, development forms, expense reports) on time.
6. Tool Management
o Maintains control of tool inventory; ensures pre/post use reviews are conducted.
o Reports damaged or broken tools to the tool room custodian and supports accountability measures.
7. Workplace Standards & Support
o Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment across training areas.
o Notifies Apprentice Supervisor of any support services or disciplinary concerns related to apprentices.
o Maintains a thorough working knowledge and adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulations.
8. Additional Duties
o Performs other tasks as assigned by the Apprentice Supervisor or Apprentice Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Aviation training background preferred. Must hold valid Airframe and/or Powerplant certification.
· Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to provide clear guidance and instructions to apprentices.
· Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, use computers, and perform tasks across workshop, hangar, outdoor, and office environments.
