Job Description

This role leads operations activities for on the FAL, ensuring clear visibility of work, effective coordination between departments and suppliers, and timely communication of issues impacting the final assembly line. You will manage people in a manufacturing environment, oversee project schedules and reporting, and support continuous improvement of processes and quality on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain clear visibility of activities, including statements of work, project schedules, and status reports for program.
  • Monitor and report on progress through weekly and monthly updates, ensuring stakeholders have accurate and timely information.
  • Inform relevant stakeholders of any quality or process issues on the aircraft and support the resolution of these issues.
  • Interface with other disciplines and divisions to coordinate operations and ensure alignment across functions.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to management and personnel on operational performance, risks, issues, and escalations.
  • Communicate urgent operations activities that impact the final assembly line (FAL), including escalations, risks, and issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and external suppliers to support smooth operations.
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot operational challenges on the shop floor, including schedule changes and change planning.
  • Manage people in a manufacturing environment, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure operational targets are met.
  • Work with minimal supervision while ensuring that project and operational objectives are achieved.
  • Support operations in a unionized environment, acting as a liaison where required.
  • Adapt to work requirements that may occasionally fall outside of normal business hours to support critical activities.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing people in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in project management within a manufacturing or aviation environment.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing development cycle.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, schedules, and reporting in a complex operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Logical and flexible mindset with strong initiative and the ability to switch between overview and detailed approaches.
  • Superior skills in MS Office, including MS Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience working in aircraft manufacturing or an aviation environment.
  • Experience managing in a unionized environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in troubleshooting operational issues and supporting change planning.
  • Experience acting as a liaison between departments and with suppliers.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced shop-floor environment with shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to occasionally work outside normal business hours when required by operational needs.

Work Environment

This position is based at a large aerospace manufacturing facility at Pearson. You will spend approximately 60 of your time on the shop floor and 40 at a desk, balancing hands-on operational support with planning, reporting, and coordination tasks. The role primarily operates on the afternoon shift, with a noted day shift of 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and some activities may require work outside normal business hours. You will work closely with production teams, engineering, and other support functions in a structured, unionized manufacturing environment that uses standard office tools such as MS Project, PowerPoint, and Excel alongside shop-floor systems.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr.
