Responsibilities
The Sr Director, Powerplant & Fleet is responsible for the leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the airline’s powerplant operations and engine asset programs. This role oversees engine and APU reliability, maintenance program compliance, and vendor partnerships, while also managing the lifecycle and commercial aspects of the fleet’s powerplant assets. The Sr Director ensures optimal performance and cost-effectiveness through proactive planning, cross-functional collaboration, and alignment with regulatory and business goals.
- Provide leadership and strategic oversight of all powerplant operations, including engine and APU performance, maintenance programs, shop visits, and reliability initiatives.
- Develop and manage short- and long-term engine asset strategies, including lease management, shop visit forecasting, and end-of-life planning.
- Oversee the development and execution of cost control initiatives, including on-wing support programs, maintenance contracts, and vendor negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with FAA and other regulatory agency requirements across all powerplant operations and asset activities.
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Finance to optimize engine and APU maintenance planning, spares management, and asset utilization.
- Manage lease return conditions, LLP tracking, and warranty administration to preserve asset value and meet financial obligations.
- Provide technical and financial oversight of engine-related contracts, including leasing, power-by-the-hour (PBH), and OEM support agreements.
- Maintain and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engine reliability, maintenance cost per flight hour, and asset health.
- Lead a team responsible for engine maintenance planning, asset records, and powerplant program administration.
- Support fleet growth, transition, and re-delivery activities by ensuring proper asset configuration, maintenance history accuracy, and regulatory conformity.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all powerplant and asset-related functions.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Airframe & Powerplant License
- 5 years managing Power Plant Operational Functions or Fleet Management (Engineering, Planning, Shop Oversight
- Budgeting
- Asset Planning/Forecasting (Excel/ Power Point proficiency)
- Technical Knowledge of Engines/APUs
- Manpower Planning
- Business Case Development (Cost/Benefit Analysis)
- Contract Development and Negotiation
- Expertise in maintenance planning systems and data-driven maintenance strategies
- Excellent analytical, project management, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
