Spirit AeroSystems is actively developing technologies that will enable zero carbon emission flight. As our research in this field expands, we are growing the Prestwick team based at our state-of-the-art research and technology development facility, the Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC). The AIC showcases Spirit’s distinctive capabilities as a global centre for design and digital manufacturing of current and future aircraft. Partnering with Universities, industry leaders, and the UK’s CATAPULT network the AIC is a focal point to collaborate, innovate, train and develop skills for today and tomorrow. Spirit is developing structures and systems technologies to enable our industries transition to net zero emissions.
This exciting opportunity requires candidates to work in an agile, diverse and fast paced environment developing cutting edge technologies for aerostructures and future fuels integration. The successful candidate will deliver expert structural analysis leadership and integrate across our design, R&D, systems, and test teams in a rapid design, build and test environment. Role Purpose
The role provides the technical oversight for the design to ensure that the stress aspects of major design/build packages are compliant with all specified technical requirements.
This opportunity, based at our Prestwick campus, offers:
- 37 hour working week (half day Friday).

Responsibilities
- The delivery of completed & approved documentation to customers on time and on cost. · To ensure the structural integrity of all projects.
- Adherence to all Type Approvals and requirements.
- Adherence to all governing bodies (CAA. EASA, FAA).
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Supervises the work of engineers and contractors to fulfil customer expectations
- Plans and organises training to ensure engineers are appropriately skilled to carry out their responsibilities
- Reviews and approves the analysis of engineers, ensuring customer requirements, safety and environmental standards are met
- Ensures work programmes are delivered within budgets and deadlines and in line with customer requirements
- Develops and specifies analysis methods to be used by the team
- To define with the Customer the structural analysis requirements and agree means of compliance
- Prepares resource schedules and defines packages to be off loaded
- Defines and structures project requirements for work packages
- Plans and agrees with the customer, work sequences and timescales and develops project programmes
- Monitors the execution of key projects and contracts to ensure plans and timetables are met
- Ensures purchase requisitions are in place to undertake the project
- Assesses and selects sub-contract staff
- Signatory approval holder
- Project Management skills essential
- Degree qualified in relevant Engineering Discipline
Decision Making Authority
- Approves others work to ensure Company, Customer and Regulatory requirements are met.
- Identifies and implements methods and techniques to be used within own particular work area.
