Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Lead Principal Engineer to support our Process Engineering team at our Promontory Plant. The role as a Lead Insulation Engineer supporting NASA programs in the Case Prep group.  The engineer is to oversee a team of case prep engineers to support NASA program deliverables.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

         Collaborate with multiple disciplines to meet program deadlines

         Drive concurrent engineering principles within the team

  • Mentor/develop process engineers within the NASA program engineering team

  • Peer review new and modified Case Prep insulation planning, PFMEA’s, CONOPS, MBOMs and other Process Engineering deliverables for the NASA PcEing Team

  • Attend Design, Tooling and Facility drawing reviews for sign off

  • Instrumental in creating/reviewing FEO/TCN design criteria for new/modified facilities and equipment

  • Actively participate in Cause and Corrective action teams to identify root cause for issues related to Case Prep Insulation processes

  • Ensures Case Prep Insulation team follows the SA-22 and OP-62 process for all changes

  • Focal point for design/equipment changes related to Case Prep Insulation processes

  • Initiate/Run quarterly manufacturing assessment reviews

  • Initiate regular Statistical Process Control (SPC) meetings to ensure data is reviewed and within historical family limits to understand the risk and ensure data-driven decision making

  • Present and communicate on manufacturing investigations

  • Prepare/coordinate estimates for proposals for the Case Prep Insulation PcEing team

  • Oversee the progress on developing process improvements for NASA Case Prep Insulation Programs

  • Maintain oversight of all NASA Case Prep Insulation operational functions and provide status/updates to leadership team

  • Program(s) and VSET Leader Point of Contact (POC) for NASA Case Prep Insulation process engineering support

  • Ability to obtain ORI Chairman qualification

This position’s standard work schedule is a 4/10. The 4/10 schedule is Monday through Thursday.

 

Basic Qualification: 

  • B.S. degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering (other technical degrees may be considered) and a minimum of 8 years of experience; 6 years with a master’s degree

  • Manufacturing/Process Engineering Case Prep: Insulation experience

  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), 6 sigma concepts for process development and control

  • Ability to motivate and guide teams and activities without having formal “ownership” of the staff supporting those activities.

  • Experience in MS Office software applications and other NG software (eg. ESI, Doc Shop, TCUA, etc)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance

  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Deep hands-on experience of the NASA Case Prep Insulation manufacturing processes

  • Proven ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team

  • Expert knowledge of command media to meet deliverables

  • Ability to complete deliverables within a rigorous timeline

  • Proficiency in leading teams to deliver complex projects on time

  • Translating long-term program goals into a technical roadmap that anticipates future growth

  • Facilitate alignment across NASA Case Prep engineers to ensure project transparency and goal consistency

  • Takes full end-to-end ownership of the NASA Program Case Prep Objectives

  • Strong communication skills across multiple disciplines

         Skilled at steering multiple complex initiatives simultaneously from conception to delivery

         Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
