Job Description:
Position Purpose:
In a team-oriented work environment, under direct supervision, loads, sets up, and assists with the operation of autoclaves and auxiliary equipment to cure and bond metallic, fiberglass, and carbon fiber aircraft parts.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One (1) year related or autoclave operational experience
  • Previous experience with aerospace composite bonding, tool prep/cleaning, or operating autoclave/ovens
  • Forklift experience
  • Hand and power tool knowledge
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
  • Autoclave Operation: Basic set up and operation of autoclaves and auxiliary equipment to cure and bond metallic and non-metallic aircraft parts and assemblies.
  • Part Selection: Assists with the selection of parts and assemblies for simultaneous bonding, based on similarity of processing requirements and autoclave capacity.
  • Tool Placement: Assists with the placement of racks and tools containing parts and assemblies within the autoclaves.
  • Thermocouple and Vacuum Line Connection: Connects thermocouples and vacuum lines to fittings on tool ports and/or thermocouple and vacuum plugs inside the autoclave.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintains a neat and orderly work area, supports the company FOD and 5S program, and complies with all safety regulations.
  • Tool Preparation: Retrieves scheduled DWP lay-up tools from tool storage and preps and releases tools for bond room lay-up operation.
  • Tool Cleaning: Assists with break down and cleaning of tools containing cured parts.
  • Tool Storage: Storing of cleaned tools in specified storage area.
Other Requirements:
  • Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computers and related systems.
  • Drivers License: Must have a valid drivers license to obtain cart and forklift license.
  • Q-Stamp: Should possess and use a Q-Stamp to include all approved processes associated with autoclave operations. New hires will be required to obtain a Q-Stamp within twelve (12) months.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Equipment Operation: Basic operational understanding of overhead cranes, forklifts, and electric tow mules, and all other tools required to perform the job.
  • Procedure Understanding: Basic ability to read, comprehend, and implement manufacturing procedures, as well as basic math and computer skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Shift Flexibility: Must be able to work any shift.
Preferred Skills:
  • Computer skills, preferably ASC Software or similar cure program
  • Comfortable using email and communicating issues
  • Forklift and overhead crane capability
  • General knowledge of controls and function of oven operations
Desired Skills:
  • Familiar with composite teardown process, removing and cleaning tool fixtures
  • General understanding of composite curing process
  • Strong communication skills
