Job Description:

Purpose:

Assist the Facilities and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Manager with inspection, maintenance and upkeep of the facility and equipment. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Service and operate all assigned ground support equipment, including tugs, large and small forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, aircraft jacks, hydraulic test stand, air start cart, diesel and electric driven mobile HVAC units, 400hz power converters and diesel 400hz ground power units.
  • Perform equipment troubleshooting and repair of all assigned ground support equipment. 
  • Perform periodic and annual inspections of assigned GSE per manufacturers recommendations.
  • Perform periodic inspections of tooling and slings per accepted industry standards.
  • Perform carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, plumbing, sheet metal fabrication, or associated work on plant facilities using power tools.
  • Perform compliance inspections on life safety equipment as assigned
  • Perform compliance inspections and maintenance of assigned environmental collection and storage areas
  • Assist with training and mentoring other GSE mechanics to increase their skills and value to the company
  • Design and fabricate tooling or modify GSE to meet unique production requirements
  • Light janitorial duties expected.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.

Minimum Qualifications or Experience:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • At least three (3) years documented work experience on automotive, heavy mechanical, hydraulic and electrical
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Valid driving license with clean driving record 
Preferred Qualifications or Experience:
  • Completion of a formal training program in automotive or heavy equipment mechanics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in the aviation industry
  • EPA HVAC Certification
  • Prior experience and/or certification in maintaining industrial HVAC, Waste Treatment, and Electrical / Mechanical equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel is to be expected for business industry work, events and occasional business networking and negotiation meetings.

Working Conditions:

This position is considered INDUSTRIAL WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Almost exclusively outdoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
  • The work surface is stable (flat), requires climbing ladders, and using lifts.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing and/or climbing as well as working from elevated boom lift to 80 ft on occasion.
