About this position: As the IT Architect – Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving CN’s cloud transformation strategy. You will lead the migration of systems from on-premises infrastructure—primarily VMware—to the Microsoft Azure platform. My position demands both strategic foresight and hands-on technical expertise to build, optimize, and secure a scalable cloud environment that aligns with organizational objectives. Also, collaboration with several IT functions to ensure the successful implementation and performance of cloud services will be required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Cloud Migration:
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of the migration from on-premises infrastructure to cloud platforms, primarily Microsoft Azure.
- Conduct assessments of legacy infrastructure and develop customized cloud migration strategies.
Cloud Architecture & Engineering:
- Design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures.
- Implement best practices for cloud-native design, multi-cloud/hybrid integration, and platform services.
Automation & Optimization:
- Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation for automated deployments and infrastructure management.
- Optimize performance and cost through architecture tuning and automation strategies.
Security & Compliance:
- Integrate security by design into cloud solutions.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, ITIL).
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce identity, access, and data protection controls.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with DevOps, security, and development teams to align cloud strategy with business and technical goals.
- Provide subject matter expertise on cloud infrastructure and tools.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of cloud-related incidents.
Monitoring & Documentation:
- Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms for performance and security.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on cloud architecture, configurations, workflows, and policies.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is typically required.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline can be beneficial but is not mandatory.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert – essential for designing and implementing Azure-based solutions.
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or CompTIA Cloud+ – helpful for ensuring secure cloud deployments.
- IT framework certifications like ITIL Foundation or TOGAF may be valuable for aligning cloud solutions with enterprise architecture and service management.
- Ongoing technical training in cloud technologies, automation, cybersecurity, and DevOps practices is necessary to keep pace with evolving trends.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (especially Microsoft Azure) and tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, and CI/CD pipelines is critical.
