Job Description

This role focuses on preparing and painting aircraft exteriors according to detailed customer designs and unique livery requirements. You will perform all stages of surface preparation, layout, and application of primers, paints, and finishes on aircraft sections while working safely at heights and following strict regulatory and quality standards in an onsite, shift-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform painting of aircraft sections in accordance with customer design specifications and unique livery requirements.
  • Create necessary patterns and perform layout work to ensure accurate placement of colors, graphics, and markings.
  • Prepare exterior aircraft surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and other paint preparation activities.
  • Apply prescribed primers, paints, and finishes to aircraft exteriors using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Apply aircraft finishes and external markings, including logos, registration numbers, and other required identifiers, to aircraft sections.
  • Work 100 onsite at the designated facility and comply with all onsite safety, quality, and process requirements.
  • Work at heights using fall protection equipment in accordance with Fall Protection Regulations (OSHA 1926, 191066, 1910 Subpart D).
  • Obtain and maintain Fall Protection Certification as a condition of assignment.
  • Support all assigned shifts based on business needs, including days, evenings, nights, and alternative work schedules.
  • Attend, complete, and pass all required training classes; maintain proficiency in painting processes, safety procedures, and equipment use.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including the use of fall protection gear, safety equipment, and masks, as required by applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure aircraft paint work meets quality, schedule, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect completed paint work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, and perform touch-ups or corrections as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of painting experience in aircraft, automotive, or general painting.
  • Experience working from heights and using fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain Fall Protection training and certification.
  • Willingness to work any assigned shift, including first, second, third, and alternative work schedules.
  • Ability to wear fall protection gear, safety equipment, and masks in accordance with applicable safety standards.
  • Proficiency in paint preparation activities, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and surface conditioning.
  • Ability to apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and finishes using industrial painting techniques.
  • Capability to follow detailed instructions, drawings, and design specifications for aircraft liveries and markings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality paint finishes.
  • Physical ability to work at heights, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive painting and prep tasks in an industrial environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Aircraft paint experience, particularly on large structures and complex livery designs.
  • More than 3 years of aerospace paint experience, preferably involving multi-stage paint processes (base coat/clear coat) at large scale using compressed air systems.
  • Relevant paint experience in large-scale applications such as automobiles, boats, or other industrial painting environments.
  • Previous experience working in a major aerospace or aviation manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working in a highly regulated environment with strict safety and quality requirements.
  • Willingness to participate in and successfully complete extensive training programs.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support different shifts based on business needs.

Work Environment

This is a 100 onsite role in a large aerospace manufacturing and finishing facility. You will work at heights using fall protection equipment in compliance with OSHA Fall Protection Regulations (OSHA 1926, 191066, 1910 Subpart D), and you must obtain and maintain Fall Protection Certification as a condition of assignment. The environment involves industrial painting operations with compressed air systems, multi-stage paint processes, and the use of safety equipment such as fall protection gear, masks, and other personal protective equipment. Training lasts approximately 3 to 4 weeks on first shift and must be successfully completed to remain in the role. Multiple shift options are available, including traditional shifts (1st: 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Mon–Fri, 2nd: 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m. Mon–Fri, 3rd: 11:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. Mon–Fri) and alternative schedules (A Shift: 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Mon–Thu, B Shift: 5:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. Mon–Thu, C Shift: 5:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Fri–Sun, D Shift: 5:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m. Fri–Sun). You must be willing to support any of these shifts based on business needs. Teamwear is provided through the onsite teamwear store and forms part of the expected dress code, along with required safety and protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
